Hiring a Volvo S90 in Dubai: Scandinavian Intelligence on UAE Roads

The Volvo S90 fills a precise niche in the Dubai car hire market - it delivers genuine business-class comfort without the aggression of a German sedan or the excess of a full-size luxury saloon. The B6 AWD engine produces 300 hp and reaches 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, which means Sheikh Zayed Road feels effortless, not stressful.

The 500-litre boot fits two large suitcases and a carry-on with room to spare. Nappa leather, four-zone climate control, and built-in Google Maps make every route across Dubai - from Dubai Marina to Business Bay - feel considered rather than chaotic. Drivers who rent a Volvo S90 in Dubai consistently cite the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous system as the feature that changes how they experience the city's motorways. One drive, and the logic of choosing Swedish engineering over louder alternatives becomes obvious.

Popular Types of Volvo Cars

Executive Performance: Volvo S90 B6 AWD

The B6 AWD sets the benchmark for business sedan hire in Dubai. Its 300 hp mild-hybrid powertrain keeps fuel consumption around 7.5 l/100 km – significantly lower than comparable German rivals. Adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist handles the long straights of Emirates Road, making it the preferred choice for corporate delegates and frequent travellers across the UAE.

Volvo S90 rental in the B6 trim suits airport transfers, client meetings in DIFC, and multi-day itineraries between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Family Safety: Volvo S90 T8 Recharge

Families travelling with children rate the S90 T8 Recharge as one of the safest sedans available for rent in Dubai. The plug-in hybrid system delivers near-silent running in EV mode – ideal for early-morning school or hotel runs – while City Safety automatic braking adds a layer of protection on busy urban roads.

If your group needs more cabin space, explore the Rent SUV Cars in Dubai Without Deposit catalogue for seven-seat alternatives at the same safety standard.

Eco-Luxury: Quiet Comfort for the Discerning Traveller

The T8 variant’s electric motor produces instant torque, reducing cabin noise to near-zero at city speeds – a meaningful advantage when Dubai temperatures push air conditioning to maximum. The optional Bowers & Wilkins 19-speaker audio system turns every commute into a private concert.

Drivers who prioritise refinement over raw performance consistently choose this configuration.

How to Choose a Car

Key Selection Factors

  • Pilot Assist availability: Confirm your trim includes the semi-autonomous steering assist – critical for long motorway stretches between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
  • Clean Air filtration: The S90’s PM 2.5 cabin filter removes desert dust and pollen – a practical advantage during sandstorm season.
  • Boot space: 500 litres accommodates two large suitcases plus a stroller without folding the rear seats.
  • Ventilated Nappa seats: Essential for Dubai summers – reduces cabin heat-up time after parking in open lots.
  • CDW insurance coverage: Included as standard, a 1,000 AED excess applies per incident.

The S90's built-in Google Maps renders Dubai Marina's multi-level interchanges and Business Bay's underground car parks more accurately than most smartphone apps mounted on a dashboard holder. Set your destination before departure - the system updates routing in real time, including Salik toll gate warnings, so you avoid unexpected detours anywhere in Dubai.

Cost and Value Analysis

Volvo S90 hire at Rentico starts from 300 AED per day. A single Uber Black ride from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah regularly costs 150-200 AED one way. A three-day S90 rental covers that same journey six times at the same total spend – with full freedom of schedule and no waiting for a driver.

Book your S90 at least 48 hours ahead during peak season (October-March). Rentico guarantees your exact model - if availability changes, we upgrade at no extra cost. Weekly and monthly car rental in Dubai rates reduce the per-day cost significantly.

Requirements for Renting a Volvo S90 in Dubai

Required Documents to Drive in Dubai

Valid driving licence (UAE or international).
Passport (tourists) or Emirates ID (residents).
Minimum driving experience: 3 months.
Minimum driver age: 21 years (25+ for T8 Recharge).

UAE licence holders with less than 3 months of local history should bring their home-country licence as proof of prior experience.

Usage Rules and Restrictions for the UAE

The S90 is permitted across all UAE emirates, including Abu Dhabi. Cross-border travel to Oman is not permitted. Off-road driving and track use void the CDW insurance coverage. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at collection. Smoking inside the cabin is prohibited, a 500 AED deep-cleaning fee applies if violated.

All Rentico vehicles carry a Salik chip. Toll fees (4-6 AED per gate during peak hours, 0 AED at night) plus a 1.5 AED service charge per pass are settled at return.

Payment and Cancellation Terms

Rentico charges no booking fee and requires no prepayment for daytime delivery (09:00-21:00). Payment is collected at vehicle handover – cash in AED, USD, or EUR, debit and credit cards.
Since booking is free, cancellation carries no penalty. If the car is delivered and cannot be handed over due to missing documents, the delivery fee applies.

VAT is already included in all displayed rental prices. No card processing fees are added.

IDP Requirement

Whether you need an International Driving Permit depends on your country of licence issue, not your nationality. EU, US, UK, GCC, and Canadian licence holders do not require an IDP. Drivers from Russia, Kazakhstan, and other CIS countries must carry a valid IDP alongside their national licence.

Full country-by-country guidance is available on the Help page.

    • An International Driving Permit (IDP) — this is required for citizens of some countries (see the list here).

If you’re from the EU, GCC, USA, UK, Canada, or a few other places, you don’t need an IDP. For people from Belarus and Ukraine, just your national driver’s license and passport are enough to book.

If you’re from Russia, Kazakhstan, or other CIS countries, an International Driving Permit is a must.

UAE residents should provide a valid UAE driver’s license and their Emirates ID. If your UAE license is less than 3 months old, please also send your national driver’s license showing you’ve been driving for 3 months or more.

  • Off-road use is a violation of the rental agreement and is not allowed.

You can rent economy-class cars only. A refundable deposit of AED 2,000 is required.

    • 25 and older:
All car categories are available. The 10% rule does not apply to insurance.

  • Yes — with Rentico, you can rent a car without a deposit or credit card.

A credit card is not required.

  • If you want to rent a car in the UAE, in some cases you’ll need an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your regular driver’s license. For example, people from Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and some other countries need an IDP. You can find a list of the most common countries and their IDP requirements here.

You don’t need an International Driving Permit if you are:

    • A UAE resident. Just show your Emirates ID and a valid UAE driver’s license that’s been issued at least 3 months ago. If your UAE license is newer than that, you’ll also need to show your original national driver’s license proving you’ve been driving for more than 3 months.

    • A citizen of the EU, GCC, USA, UK, Canada, Belarus, or Ukraine. For renting a car, your national driver’s license and passport are enough.

In any case, you must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces your liability in the event of an accident during your car rental. Without this, you could be liable for the full cost of the rental car if it were to be damaged or written off. CDW means you won’t have to pay the full cost of any repairs as long as you’ve followed the T&Cs.

CDW is always included when booking with rentico.ae with Excess or Excess Reimbursement. CDW is sometimes known as Loss Damage Waiver or Damage Excess Waiver.
