What is Salik and how much does it cost?

Salik is Dubai’s electronic road toll system. Every Rentico vehicle carries a Salik chip – you drive through the gate, the system logs it automatically. Cost: 0 AED at night, 4 AED off-peak, 6 AED during peak hours, plus a 1.5 AED Rentico service fee per crossing. There are 8 gates across the city, including on E11 (Sheikh Zayed Road). All charges are settled at the end of your rental.

Is insurance included? What does it cover?

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is included in every hire. It covers accidents, theft and natural disasters – provided you file a police report, which can usually be done through the Dubai Police app. Standard deductible: 1,000 AED per incident. Tyres and glass are not covered. Drivers under 25 carry an additional 20% liability on repair costs. Off-road use, DUI and unreported incidents void the policy entirely.
